    The Tibetan Ayurveda

Ayurveda literally means "The Science of Life". It is a system for maintaining health and preventing illness by adhering to certain principles and philosophies.

Although Ayurveda is principally thought of as being from northern India, the underlying philosophy is the basis of many health systems throughout regions of Asia, including Tibet. Each region has interpreted these philsophies according to the resources available in the area and the religious beliefs of the population.

The Medicine Buddha , also known as the Healing Buddha is a very important component of of Tibetan Buddhist Medicine. Tibetans believe the medicine Buddha is so powerful that even mentioning his name, or seeing an image of him has profound beneficial effects.
The Medicine Buddha can be interpreted in two ways:

  • As an enlightened being who who has unconditional compassion for all living things. he protects the living fom injury or sickness and has the power to eradicate the three poisons.

  • As the representation of the healing energy within ourselves, the universe and the planet merged together in unity.

    Tibetan Acupressure

Tibetan Acupressure Head Massage makes use of special acupressure points used in both the Buddhist and The Bon medical traditions.

The Bon acupressure points are pressed with the thumb or index finger, and the Buddhist points are either "circled" or pressed.

The acupressure points are directly related to the five recognised Tibetan Chakras and to the organs of the body closest to them.

Traditionally, warmed oils are used in the massage, and they are excellent for the hair and scalp, but this is optional.

Life for most of us can be stressful and we have to ensure that we make time to look after ourselves and our health. Periods of peace and calm when we experience deep relaxation are important if we are to stay healthy and prevent the illnesses and diseases so often caused by fatigue and stress.
